Which dialer type fits your team | PowerDialer.ai Help
Preview, power, parallel and predictive dialing compared on what actually decides it: call volume, team size and the compliance surface you take on.
Four dialer types suit four different situations, and the choice is mostly a question of volume rather than preference.
The four types
| Preview | Power | Parallel | Predictive | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Numbers dialled at once | One, after you look | One, automatically | Several | Paced to agents |
| Rep waits on ringing | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Suits a small team | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Needs volume to justify | No | No | Some | A lot |
| Added compliance surface | None | Low | Low | Abandoned-call limits |
How to choose
Preview — you need to read the record before you dial. Research-heavy, high-value, low-volume calling.
Power — you want the next number without clicking. The honest default for most small teams, and often the right answer when a parallel dialer is being oversold to you.
Parallel — waiting is your bottleneck. If reps are making enough calls that the dead time between answers is the biggest line in their day, this is where the gain is.
Predictive — you have a floor of agents and enough volume for a model to pace dialing against their availability. It also brings the heaviest regulatory surface, because pacing wrong means abandoning calls.
The honest answer for a small team
A three-person team making forty calls a day does not need parallel dialing. The waiting is not yet the bottleneck, and the simultaneous-answer case is a complication you would be taking on for nothing. Start with power dialing and move up when the dead time is the thing slowing you down.
